Dear WGC Member,
It is with regret that I have to inform you that recent discussions between two parties with a common interest in X Training have failed. There was a possibility after the Brighton event, that old scars could be healed and a common forward drive between both parties - for the good of the sport could drive the sport on in a new direction.
Short Term
Although discussions have failed to work together - it seems at this moment in time little has changed to the way X Training has been operating over recent years. There had been no support from the party concerned and the UK GCA continues to write reports, photograph, put split timings up on a central database and create personal folders . So in the short term , there does seem to be little difference.
Long Term
How ever the long term is something quite different. Last year WGC had a meeting with Sport England. It concluded that although X Training is a fledgling sport and that the athletes who compete are very fit, there is no infrastructure in the neighboring countries - Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland and the panel that meets to determine if a sport can gain recognition meets twice a year . For that sport to get recognition the panel would have to see structured growth in all of the neighboring countries.
Sport England
The UK GCA has repeatedly asked the other party - to know what plans these were and have been repeatedly refused any indication of a structure - in fact they do not meet - and no minutes of meetings have been published for future development - its all very behind closed doors. The UK GCA could not accept the terms given to them without first being informed of what their plans were to get a structured program of development in the neighboring countries.
The Finish.
The worldgymchallenge has been encouraging members to compete on line in their own gym a set specific x training gym challenge, that enables the person to determine a set level of fitness against other members of their gym, age group, sport, area , country , including the armed service, police and fire service , in essence a single challenge that has the ability to put the X Training Gym Elite on the UK Fitness Map.
This event finishes on a treadmill run, it has done since it's creation and nobody has had any injuries from this challenge, another challenge, the most popular to date Fit Brit had over 2000 entries last year and again no reported injuries.
It would have been a farce to have worked together on a project of pushing X Training forward in the same direction, if the other party did not accept the WGC as a recognised X Training event and obviously would become a joke in the business direction. How could this sport be taken seriously if one party is pushing one event and not recognising the main event of another?
Database
When publishing emails it is unprofessional to indicate what the other party is saying "you say" etc is in effect putting words in other peoples mouths.
The main role of WGC is to have a central database, so that results can be easily searched for results for any X Training event . It is why the main frame direction is having the ability to put results directly into a results table straight after a race is now possible as long as there is connection to the internet.
For a sport to develop it makes sense for a single location of results be established, instead of searching all over the place to find results - this is the main role of WGC.com and its business role model is based on the central lo action of system to enter split timings and give personal folders for free to any gym athlete who competes in a x training challenge. This will enable sport growth and development throughout the UK .
Split
It was indicated that WGC would be responsible for a split in the sport - but this is not the case. By an upcoming event organiser refusing to allow results to be published on WGC has a direct impact on the members of WGC who joined up in good faith to see their results published after each event they enter.
It is accepted that the UK GCA is invited to events and it is the organisers prerogative to have or not have results published and entered into the WGC system.
But as a direct result of this action the scoring system for Fittest UK Gym, Fittest UK Gym Member, Hall of Fame Winner fails to achieve to any points for their gym.
The consequence of such is that at the end of the year when all the points are added up and prizes awarded for the prestigious title of UK's Fittest Gym - there is a clear, indication of a initiative that was undertaken by the UK GCA to promote both Gym Athlete and Gym in the first ever UK Gym X Training Championships (trial year) that this action taken by a panel member of the the other party could be seen a direct attack on the UK GCA to try and discredit the Championships - I think that X Trainers have worked too hard throughout the year as a joint team, representing their gym only to be denied this by no other reason then ? ..... ?
This single action can be seen as the reason for a split in X Training, unless there is a justified responce to the reason for not allowing the points to be added to the results in the Gym X Training Championships 2009. If there is, I would like to publish it to my members and those taking part this year.
Quote
A recent email has been published on another site and the term "you say" is used quite frequently, that is in effect putting words into other peoples mouths and is strictly unprofessional.
A quote on the other hand is taken from a indvidual statement and is fact. (from a recent recieved email)
'We will now operate a policy of publishing reports and results and splits on all the Majors and any other UKXTA approved event that wished results to be published. This will be for free'
The UKXTA Team
Just what have they been doing for the last three years? WGC has for the last three years doing exactly that ! I started doing because nobody else would or did. It is what the UK GCA does and for an established Association to suddenly adopt a policy that this is something new is a disgrace - you should have been doing from the off set.
It ends ...
I strongly suggest you now focus on you all round gym challenge model rather than just cross training. If you choose to just focus on cross training we will take further actions to ensure our continued success.
I do not respond well to threats and intimidation, I have earned my place in the X Training scene by promoting events and athletes over a sustained period and sucessfully getting sponsors on board. It has been very hard work, and physically and emotionally very draining. I will continue to do my very best for the sport and try as always to succeed in getting recgnition for the sport and the Gym Athletes who take part in X Training.
Conclusion
The UKGCA has taken on board many initiatives to try and increase sport awareness. The Latest News is continually updated, Profiles and interviews after the events , photography , splits - getting sponsors on board and always giving 100% devotion and time to the sport.
Ultimately the X Trainer will decide in the fete of WGC, its new initiative the Ultimate Gym Athlete and the Orbital is happening on the 26th Sept , it is there in part to fund the site and raise money for the British Heart Foundation as a charity event. There will be 72 race slots and time keepers and judges are needed for the day. Please remember as a registered company full tax is payable by WGC on entry fee's.
I sincerely hope that as a show of good faith, that this event is well attended and the title of UK's Ultimate Gym Athlete is something that is justly earned by competing against the very best of the best in a two lane Gym X Training race.
Best of luck to you all in the upcoming Gorton Grueller
Sean Blyth
UK Gym Challenge Association.
